Technical Product Owner (m/f/d)

About the Job

We’re looking for a Technical Product Owner who enjoys working close to the code without being the one writing it.

This role sits at the critical interface between Product and Engineering. You’ll take business ideas and product goals and turn them into clear, technically sound specifications that developers can confidently build from.

You’re technical by background, but you’ve chosen to move into a more conceptual, creative, and product-focused role. You care about architecture, performance, and quality and you enjoy solving technical problems through thinking, planning, and collaboration rather than hands-on coding.

Our main products are high-traffic vertical landing pages built on WordPress, and your mission is to ensure they are scalable, performant, well-specified, and reliably delivered.

This is what you'll do

  • Act as the technical bridge between Product and Development, ensuring business needs are translated into clear, actionable technical work

  • Assess new ideas and features for technical feasibility, complexity, performance impact, and cost

  • Write clear technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for Frontend and WordPress developers

  • Collaborate closely with developers to clarify requirements, unblock implementation, and ensure high-quality delivery

  • Support planning and prioritisation of technical work, balancing speed, quality, and maintainability

  • Define and support testing, QA, and release readiness

  • Plan and manage release cycles, ensuring reliable rollouts

  • Maintain technical documentation and ensure knowledge is shared across teams

  • Work closely with Product, Content and Engineering to ensure smooth execution

  • Manage technical dependencies, external web services, and related costs

  • Use AI tools and AI coding agents to accelerate specification, analysis, debugging support, and developer productivity

This is what you’ve got

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a comparable technical field

  • Previous experience as a Software Engineer, Technical Product Owner, or similar technical role

  • Hands-on WordPress experience and strong knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP)

  • Understanding of web architecture and performance, including CDNs, load balancers, and caching layers

  • Confidence translating business and product needs into clear technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail

  • Experience working with WordPress-based systems and modern web development environments, including version control and AI tools

  • Clear English communicator, comfortable working with international teams

  • You enjoy startup energy, take ownership, and are motivated to continuously improve how things are done
